Richard Stallman resigns as president of the Free Software Foundation

Our statement: fsfe.org/news/2019/news-201909

@lioh @fsfe Are you missing a specific information on our position? Feel free to contact us if that's the case: fsfe.org/contact

@mxmehl @fsfe I mean what we could say about it. I find it important to clarify our own position on inclusion and tolerance. In the end it's the decision of RMS and does not really affect us.

@lioh @fsfe In our publication, we highlight exactly these values that software freedom carries, and our take on Stallman's resignation, the ex-president of one of our independent sister organisations.

@mxmehl @fsfe the only thing I am missing is a short sentence about embracing diversity.

@lioh @fsfe Oh, I thought it was pretty clear that diversity is one of our core values. Shortened 2nd+3rd paragraph: We want to empower people from *all backgrounds* for a better society *for everyone*. *Every human* should be able to enjoy the 4 freedoms *without discrimination*. We want the Free Software community to be a *safer and more respectful place for everyone*.

@mxmehl @fsfe maybe it's just because I was missing the word diversity.

@mxmehl @lioh @fsfe
Could you clarify why exactly you welcome that decision?

@fsfe could you please elaborate on why you not only "respect", but "welcome" the decission?

@fsfe And a second reason for no longer supporting FSFE? Some time ago supporting censorship, and now this? No reason why, just "we welcome the decision" as in "we consider him a deviant sex pervert supporter of child abuse?" Really, second time in about an year where the FSFE disappoints seriously.

@RuiSeabra @fsfe #FSFE is corrupt to its own promised free software philosophy. They are abandoning the free software philosophy and accepting "open source" into Articles of Association. It is money game. Who pays more. Let us depart from free software to accomodate viewpoints that are corrupting the free software movement.

Let me say so: I appreciate works of FSFE, but I do not consider FSFE loyal to free software movement, that is spltter group that earns donations based on good name of GNU and FSF in USA.

@louis @fsfe I don't subscribe to that point of view; definitely not at such face value. :)

@louis @fsfe I will reserve my opinion for when fsfe.org/about/legal/legal.en. gets updated, if it has been really changed. I find that hard to believe.

@RuiSeabra @fsfe

we will see if those documents are true, I am not making claim they are, I got it by Internet, how do I know?

But if it is true, and FSFE is not transparent -- then it is time to rethink who to support really and if they are really supporting free software or just using the terminology for opportunism and "everything goes" approach.
@RuiSeabra @fsfe For #FSFE to say it is transparent because it publishes "annual meetings" is not adequate.

They did not even mention OTHER meetings which decisions are not published but have much more weight than annual meeting.

Calling #FSFE for true transparency please. Time is NOW. Not in months later.

Support #GNU free operating system to remain apolitical from any viewpoints but free software philosophy to welcome people of all kinds of political views, including Dr. Richard Stallman, to which defamation various traitors have formed Thoughtpolice Squads and are punishing Thoughtcrimes.

@fsfe
Wtf? We welcome the decision, period? Maybe say why you welcome it? The rest is like from a corporate PR department. "We at FSF Europe do our best to support free software" ooo who would have guessed?

@hydrandt @fsfe They just prefer PR over supporting the lead characters that made free software what it is today. It's all about publicity (and most likely, money), even for the FSF now.
@hydrandt @fsfe

I am asking those people who are pretending to represent all of the
GNU project and who are defaming and slandering Dr. Richard Stallman
to step down and resign, to do their software hacking somewhere else,
as they do not deserve funding that RMS is giving them. Ludovic
Courtès, Ricardo Wurmus, Matt Lee, Andreas Enge, Samuel Thibault,
Carlos O'Donell, Andy Wingo, Jordi Gutiérrez Hermoso, Mark Wielaard,
Ian Lance Taylor, Werner Koch, Daiki Ueno, Christopher Lemmer Webber,
Jan Nieuwenhuizen, John Wiegley, Tom Tromey, Jeff Law, Han-Wen
Nienhuys, Joshua Gay, Ian Jackson, Tobias Geerinckx-Rice, Andrej
Shadura, Zack Weinberg, John W. Eaton, please RESIGN and step down
from GNU projects, disassociate yourself or find another house for
your excessive and uncontrollable fear of the free speech. Do not
spread fear, uncertainty and doubt on GNU.ORG project pages.

@boldsuck @fsfe that is rumor mongering there are many facts on #RMS, and what he said outside of the #FSF and #GNU project is his own opinion.

Nobody shall be punished for Thoughtcrime, especially not by #FSFE people who shall respect free speech and democracy. FSFE is not working by democratic principles and is thus prone to inspection by German Vereinsgesetz -- they are bullies.
