Anyone complaining about the Google shutting down Reader had more than enough time to find and adapt to an alternative. And, yes, there are (and were) a number of options.
Blaming the death of Google Reader for the rise of Facebook and Twitter as primary (and often unreliable) news sources is a poor excuse for not taking the time to find another option (2/2)
@scottnesbitt complaining about complaining people? π
@scottnesbitt
I never used reader, but I've heard that #feedly is supposed to be a pretty decent alternative. I'm curious about the perspective of someone who has used both.
@steckerhalter
@fusioncow @scottnesbitt actually I prefer #nextcloud news. you can use it for example at https://disroot.org (or host your own nextcloud). it has decent mobile clients and you're not depending on yet another proprietary service. IMO #feedly was more annoying to use even.
@fusioncow I have friends who use Feedly and really like it. I prefer Miniflux or FreshRSS - both are #opensource and are minimal, which suits my needs
