Here’s where logic falls apart for me in the Star Trek universe. People are allowed to do whatever they want and don’t need to work for money. That makes sense, and is awesome. But then add to the mix that Risa is a place. I don’t believe those two facts can coexist. If you didn’t have to work, you’d just go to Risa. You sure wouldn’t enlist to clean the toilets of the Starship Dingleberry. (I know Starships are self-cleaning, I’m making a point).
The phrase “real man” has always really bothered me. The idea that because I was born as/identify as a certain gender I’m supposed to act a certain way or enjoy certain things. Cars, sports, guns. You can flip it and say whatever you want, but you’re still saying that I’m supposed to act a certain way because of gender. Go ahead and tell me to “man up” or take my “man card” away. I don’t want it.
Idea for anybody who writes Fediverse clients. Build a screen like this one that lists your most recently used tags along with the tags you’ve seen the most. It gives a nice snapshot of the content you’re likely interested in, both with reading and writing. And then you can get back to it with one click.
That was a sad episode.
