If you're looking for design or visual help with your free and open source software projects I want to suggest @fossfreelancer. I asked the Fediverse for a recommendation recently to help with #Owncast, and hoped I could discover somebody with similar values who cares about the software that I care about. He's your guy, it's even in his username.
I haven't mentioned it lately, but did you know that #owncast is offering donated, hosted instances for people and organizations that have a need for independent live streaming, but don't have the experience or resources to run one themselves? Share with the creatives in your life who might be interested!
I got zero responses last time I hit up the Fediverse offering paid creative work, but I'm not giving up!
Some #Owncast features being worked on require iconography. And while we could use an icon library or something like Fiverr it'd be nice to work with an illustrator on the Fediverse who focuses on icons to have something that is custom.
This is paid work, so please boost and tell your friends.
Feel free to message me on the fediverse or email me: email@example.com
One thing that we could use some help with right now is community management type things. Social accounts, chatting with people, you know the drill.
If you're into streaming, and into open source, but not necessarily just the code, say hi!
Would you, or somebody you know on the Fediverse, be experienced in and interested in working on a explainer-style video with #Owncast? You know the type. High level, fun, animated, approachable, shareable. This is a paid project!
I'd rather work with somebody on the Fediverse than head over to freelancer websites.
Starting from scratch on this, so you'd help come up with ideas as well as execute on the video. If you could, please share with somebody you know who does this kind of work.
In one hour we'll be getting together to discuss all things #Owncast!
If you have feedback, would like to find a way to contribute, or even just want to sit quietly and listen to see what we've been up to, please join us, we'd love to have you.
I'm looking forward to seeing you soon over at https://meet.jit.si/owncast-discovery-meeting

This Thursday we'll be getting together to talk about #Owncast! Share your feedback, find out what we're working on, or just hang out and see if there's anything that catches your interest.
Beginning with #owncast v0.0.8 you can embed the chat into OBS, so you can follow along and interact directly from your broadcasting software without needing an additional browser open.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in today's release. The people involved in working on and supporting #Owncast are a fantastic group. Their work, feedback, and overall contributions mean the world to me and I'm so glad their work gets put to good use in people's streams on a daily basis. It's all so cool.
Today #Owncast released v0.0.8 focusing on chat. It lays ground work to allow us, and 3rd parties (including you!), to add more features going forward. Now users have persistent identity, allowing you to build much cooler things. It also means you can ban people.
Take a look at our release notes at https://owncast.online/releases/owncast-0.0.8/ to learn more.
Also, our next Owncast call is Thursday, the 19th, 1PM Pacific, so mark your calendar, and I'll send more details later.
The next #owncast public call is being scheduled, and it'd be awesome if you could hang out with us! You're free just to silently lurk if you're curious about what we've been up to.
If you're interested, mark your availability at https://doodle.com/poll/cemfaaeywrtddmh3 so we can find a time that works best for everyone.
