@noiob YOU WOULDN'T SQUEEZE A CAR
2017: people are making fun of the squeeze-bag-juice company
2117: all food is exclusively available from DRM-protected bags, hand-squeezing is prohibited by law
A useless internet-connected $400 juice press, Senate IDs with *a photo* of a chip on it, news is becoming increasingly crazy, are we really going full #idiocracy?

[The situation seemed dire. In 2017, the Times of London estimated that by 2050 every street in the city would be buried nine feet deep in shitposts. One New York prognosticator of the 2010s concluded that by 2030 the post-shit droppings would rise to Manhattan’s third-story windows. A public mental health and post-sanitation crisis of almost unimaginable dimensions loomed]

I'd like to be able to read a Mastodon instance's local and federated timelines without having an account on that instance
slowly the #Bitcoin fan club is arriving....

#statoftheday On average, you find 349 users on a single Mastodon instance.
The Mastodon Network Monitoring project (MNM, a.k.a. displaying pretty #stats about #Mastodon in pretty #graphs) is born yesterday :)
Data is now publicly available at https://mnm.eliotberriot.com, can be embedded in iframes, exported as images, or simply browsed in a beautiful Web UI thanks to #grafana. https://mastodon.eliotberriot.com/media/6MotRS4wJqM6h-KQIt8

Amazon's doing a 'just pick up and go' grocery thing.
Yeah, it looks convenient, but all I can think of is how much data they'll collect on the schmucks who patronize it - and how much psychological trickery this will enable to manipulate their customers.
I wouldn't trust it.

@Kitsu289 check out the GitHub (it's linked on every page by the elephant art) and see if there's some discussions you could participate in, or find duplicate or resolved issues and tag me so I can close them. Those are good places to start and become familiar with what's going on
instead of "Mastodon needs to fix this" say "Hey does anyone wanna try to fix this part of Mastodon?" . It's a community made project. Open source means it's developed by the community. that includes all of us trans women who are doing work. When something needs fixing just talk to us and ask for help rather than dehumanizing us and belittling us.
Anyway I should've been asleep two hours ago so I can get up early for work tomorrow and get home and try to finish those onboarding modals.

@Gargron real time mastodon is a bit overwhelming. Can we slow things back down? 😁 Great job!
in coding, you cannot save time by skipping the "understand what you are doing" step
Raise your hand if you sent people emails from "billclinton@whitehouse.gov" in telnet via open relays when you were in sixth grade
do the people complaining about mastodon admins being able to view your private messages realize that
twitter can do that too and they're literally partnered with a service named "dataminr"
