Help needed: Please send me your Android debug logs! https://community.signalusers.org/t/help-needed-please-send-me-your-android-debug-logs/23266 // #Signal #SignalApp #SignalDown
I don't understand why some people were "laughing" about #Signal being down.
I fully agree that decentralization is clearly a better alternative to #WhatsApp.
However, IMO, each person that leaves WhatsApp, should be counted as a victory. Even if it's still towards #Telegram or Signal.
Don't be an arrogant a**hole, help people leave WhatsApp. This migration shows us that more and more people are becoming aware of their right to privacy.
Let's just live one day at a time, shall we?
ProTip: Remember to check your URLs for "utm_*" parameters
E.G. If I see:
"?utm_source=reddit.com" at the end of the URL you shared, I know you got it from Reddit
Or "utm_campaign=newsletter0120" tells me you probably copied it from an email sent in January of last year
These are never needed to actually reach the page you're sharing. They're just for analytics (UTM tracking modules) and will reveal where you get your information (to us and the site), which may cause privacy issues
Ladies and gents, I'd like to introduce you to Simple.css - a new classless CSS framework built by yours truly.
The web based Mastodon-client @pinafore is just as good on the phone as it is on the computer. It's lightweight, clean and a joy to use.
One of my favourite features with Pinafore must be the wellness settings. I really like that it supports pagination to prevent endless scrolling.
The only thing I miss is support for multiple accounts on the same server. :)
Where can you buy DRM-free e-books?
I've added 11 new DRM-free e-books, magazine and comic shops to Libreture's list of bookshops this month alone.
There's more to e-books than just Amazon and Kobo!
- Awesome Self-hosted
- Awesome Decentralized
- Awesome Peer-to-peer
- Awesome Alternatives
- Awesome Free Software
- Awesome Ad-Free
- delightful project
All aggregated lists to improve your situation :)
Free (as in freedom) alternatives to proprietary git services (GitHub, BitBucket, Sourceforge...):
- #Codeberg - https://codeberg.org
- #Gitea - https://gitea.io
- #Notabug - https://notabug.org
- #GNU #Savannah - https://savannah.gnu.org for GNU projects and https://savannah.nongnu.org for non-GNU projects.
- #Launchpad - https://launchpad.net
By the way, in my opinion using proprietary git services to share free software projects is idiotic.
I was wondering if it wouldn't be a good thing to have a Syncthing-like authentication process in XMPP/Jabber and @matrix servers.
This way we could allow devices to be part of the network without the need to open ports in the router, and still be able to talk privately over these networks.
To be honest, I'm not sure if that's something doable or if I'm just talking nonsense.
Why you should care about privacy (even if no one else around you does)
Looking to migrate away from Google but still looking for free/affordable replacements without the hassle of hosting them yourself?
There are many choices, take your pick:)
Feel free to add to this list if I've missed any good ones:)
