K so I just plugged a cheap cheap old mp3 player into my old old Linux laptop
And in one (1) step, dragging my Music folder into the mp3 player's icon that looked just like a hard disc in my file manager, I was able to do what I could not after several months of fucking around with an iPhone without access to iTunes:
