is there a mastodon mac app

The last 2% of a steamos update is always fraught with more pathos than most novels

Thinkin about using this space to workshop ideas about how machine learning is probably super unethical and maybe we should all stop trying to have ad-backed businesses. What do y’all think about that.

Don't call it a comeback
Mastodons been here for years
Open sourcing for years
Putting birdies in fear
Makin' their tears
Rain down like a Monsoon
Listen to the Mastodon BOOM!
Explosion!!
Overpowerin'!!
Over the competiton we're towering!
Wrecking shop, when we drop these TOOTS that'll make you call the cops!!
Don't you dare, stare, Twitter better move!
Don't ever compare!
Us to the rest that'll all get sliced and diced, Twitter gonna pay the price!

Is there such a thing as a mastodon DM?

Installed Amaroq on my iOS device for optimized tooting on the go. I now have a strategy for mobile and social.

Some users of twistedmatrix.com use gmail; some use fastmail; some have their own janky self-hosted thing. We run Mailman for mailing lists. All of this was a nightmare to administer; Mailgun's routing infrastructure makes it easy for me to see if we are being a bad actor, quickly address issues with backscatter.

Mailgun is incredibly conservative about recommending their product for our (twistedmatrix.com's) use case (documentation.mailgun.com/faqs, documentation.mailgun.com/faqs) but it has been absolutely magical so far.

also, looking for some guidance on threading, it looks like I have to keep finding the next reply and then clicking on it?

I got plenty of replies everybody, we're good :)

does the federation protocol make affordances for migration? i.e. if I become at-glyph-at-mydomain instead of at-glyph-at-mastodon-dot-social, can I take my followers with me or do I have to keep bleating out that they should follow the new identifier?

It's kinda weird to think about a social network where businesses own their own presences, rather than relying on a capricious third party service like Twitter or Facebook. Imagine NBC or The Verge running a Mastodon instance for their reporters to toot from, or Bethesda operating an instance for PR and customer support. No more lost business when Facebook changes their algorithms again because they need more money from boosted posts.

Weird, right?

I keep seeing oblique references to "per-post privacy" on mastodon but I don't see a privacy widget on this thing. is that a feature or no?

(are the new viewers gone yet)
