Okay, continuing to research newsletter programs. Now looking at Tiny Letter vs. MailChimp. Seems like Tiny Letter lets you develop a pretty big list (5000) without paying, compared to MailChimp's 2000 limit. But Tiny Letter has fewer features (which doesn't seem so debilitating?).

Anyone have experience with these two services? Any opinions would be welcome!

Update, for everyone who was NO DOUBT ON TENTERHOOKS WAITING TO HEAR WHAT I DID!

Following Cheryl Lynn Eaton's advice, I checked out MailPoet, which is a mailing system that works as a Wordpress plugin. My website runs on Wordpress, so I was intrigued!

And I dig it. Simple but powerful interface for making nice-looking emails. Control over everything since it's all in my Wordpress installation.

And outgoing emails are handled by MailPoet themselves -- for up to 2000 subscribers. Over that and I have to pay, but the increments seem manageable.
