Offering “thoughts & prayers” without any sort of actual help is abuse.
It’s designed to make the person saying it feel better without having to do any actual work or spending any time thinking about what actually happened.

@zkat When I look at the way you handle complex Rust code, I am amazed, so I'd say you're doing all right! I've been programming for over 20 years and I'm still really bad at a lot of things... I'd pay to work alongside a developer with your skill!

I have encountered more image descriptions on Mastodon in 24 hours than I have in Twitter in a couple of years. Seriously. I'm not exaggerating.
As a blind person, this means a lot to me. If you read this and you describe your images, thank you so, so, so much on behalf of all of us. If you don't, now you know you'll be helping random Internet strangers make sense of your posts by typing in a few more words than usual.
Before joining Mastodon had you participated or were active on BBS (dial-up) or forums (vBulletin style) in the past?
