Wine 4.0 released!

This release represents a year of development effort and over 6,000 individual changes. It contains a large number of improvements that are listed in the release notes below. The main highlights are:

* Vulkan support.
* Direct3D 12 support.
* Game controllers support.
* High-DPI support on Android.

The source is available now. Binaries are being built, and will appear soon at their download locations.

I run windows programs under wine that you can't run under windows anymore.

@hairylarry @linux I bought Homeworld II off gog.com - it would not run on Windows 10 on my machine; but Wine would do it.

Wait until Microsoft goes head on with their plans to make it a subscription model deal...

@linux The cash cow was Office, and now that Office is no longer tied to the OS, it seems less of a priority to keep the OS running. It must be a support hell anyway.

I have gta san andreas and it's impossible to run on windows, even with a patch that fans released for it, on linux works out of the box with proton.

@Alderaeney @hairylarry @linux gamepad is massive problem in GTA 3D series. No xbox 360/One gamepad support added.

Maybe it's time that they released wine on Windows...
