Tropical Storm Lane 11 p.m. update. The storm is crawling northwest near 3 mph and will continue to do so until Saturday morning. Lane’s outer rain bands will produce excessive rainfall this weekend, which could lead to additional flash flooding and landslides. Localized storm total amounts in excess of 40 inches have already been observed along the windward side of the Big Island.

ropical Storm Lane 8 p.m. update reports the system is nearly stationary. Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Isolated tornados are possible from tonight into early Saturday across parts of the Big Island, Maui County and Oahu.
