Every time says “We’re not going back,” I think of the many ways in which that is true for me. One of them: I’m not going back to private, commercial social media. Just as healthy democracies disperse the powers of the state, healthy social media avoids excessive concentration. I will make this point to the campaign when I get their attention for Mastodon for Harris. Let’s keep showing them they should be participating in this community. secure.actblue.com/donate/mast

You could also ask them to stop making important announcements on Twitter.

@heidilifeldman and @JamesGleick I appreciate the thought behind what you said, but upon reflection…. why are we (the electorate) imposing our values on others? For #reasons campaigns have social media accounts on FB, Instagram, Threads, and X (this is specific to the United States). Most #Mastodon users can follow anyone on Threads (some instances blocked it). Is it not the voter’s responsibility to use *all* tools available to be informed? #harriswalz2024

@marybethR @heidilifeldman @JamesGleick no. Yes, citizens should try to be informed but I see no reason why citizens would have a responsibility to use ALL mediums to do so. If someone doesn't own a TV, it's unreasonable to expect them to buy one in order to watch a debate or news coverage of a campaign. While social media accounts are free in money, they cost time.
While it's the citizen's responsibility to be informed, it's the campaign's responsibility to spread their message accessibly
