I think the move is correct, because most people speak a single digit number of languages, and Mastodon's network is definitely more languages than that, so having people opt out was the wrong approach.
But this UI component feels so out of place. I'd so much rather just have a normal text input field where you enter comma-separated language codes (en, de, ja, etc), but that would probably be bad.

The missconception of critical thinking is that it's when you are critical of what someone says.

Poverty makes it cheap for powerful people to buy threats, harassment and useful idiots and thus silence criticism and from this stay in power. Low police salaries makes it easy to corrupt law enforcement.
Poverty is a threat not only to the poor but to any democracy and society. That's why we need to make sure people always have food, medications and some place to live.
