It needs a fair bit of work. It’s technically running, but it shoots coolant out of the reservoir and radiator cap. I plan to flush and replace all the fluids, replace the brakes, give the interior a deep clean (it is *grungy*), and maybe more.

This weekend, I purchased a 1995 Ford Escort wagon as my first ever project car. I’ve been wanting to learn vehicle maintenance for years, but until now, have not had the means or opportunity. I’m excited to get wrenching! I’ve dubbed it, the Runabout. (h/t @eli_oat for the name)

The new Kacey Musgraves album is, sadly, quite boring.

Well, this was short lived. Toddler’s hands are not very grippy apparently.

Digging out my old Game Boy to play while waiting on long builds was a fantastic decision. (10 points if you can name that game!)

Oh, almost forgot, we are open to remote employees! If you are remote, relocation to Minneapolis, MN where our HQ is would also be an option.

Lastly, we have similar positions open on our Android Platform team, so let me know if you or someone you know would be interested in that too!

I've really enjoyed my time at Target. Focusing on developer experience (DX) is definitely my niche, and doing that at Target has been great. Essentially our job is to improve developer happiness.

If you have any questions, feel free to message me. My DMs are open.

The lead level opening hasn't been posted yet, but if you'd like to apply and you feel like lead would be more appropriate to your skill level, let me know and I can get that ball rolling.

Are you an iOS developer that enjoys working on tooling, shared code, design systems, and/or app architecture? Target is hiring two positions (senior and lead) on our iOS Platform team — the team that I'm on!

My thanks to @joshbrorby for reminding me of this gem from the 70s. (Listen on headphones if you can. There’s lots of fun stuff happening with the stereo field that I never noticed until just now!) song.link/i/716071791

My favorites from Cars & Coffee this morning:

1. Ninth generation Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe
2. First generation Dodge Neon
3. Second generation Honda CRX
4. Henry standing next to a truck tire that’s taller than he is

The script creates a new branch with an empty git history, which you then set as the default branch of your fork, and delete main/master from your fork. This ensures that if you’ve checked out main/master locally, you know it’s the upstream version, not your fork’s.

Here’s the script if anyone’s curious: gist.github.com/hisaac/eb935a9

It automates a trick I learned from @pennig a bit ago to limit some confusion when using forks on GitHub.

Like a good software developer, I just spent 3 hours writing a script to automate a manual process I do every once in a while that takes 1–2 minutes tops.
