I may have successfully bored someone to sleep with programming talk after they complained they weren't sleepy. (waiting for timeout=600s to confirm)
Ok guys, very funny.
I know for a fact that the person behind mastodon stayed up till 3AM working on the tooling. That is a real person losing real sleep over something I'm using and asking others to use.
It can make criticism feel incredibly personal.
The Ruby library for interacting with the Mastodon client API is in dire need of completion. If you're looking for ways to contribute code, I think that's a good starting point https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon-api
Now with more features and less errors thanks to.... a lot of people: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/Mastodon.py mastodon.py 1.0.6 . Changelog: https://github.com/halcy/Mastodon.py/blob/master/CHANGELOG.rst
I am guessing someone has already started writing a Mastodon server implementation in Go :P Which one of you is it? Heheh
कस्सं काय मंडळी?
So Le Monde, aka France's biggest newspaper, has done a story on Mastodon. This is nuts: http://mobile.lemonde.fr/pixels/article/2017/04/04/le-reseau-social-mastodon-un-twitter-plus-proche-de-l-esprit-originel_5105900_4408996.html
Got to say, the Mastodon API is really clean. One bit that sticks out is where it redirects to a web page if your login fails instead of something like {'error': "login failed'}.
I do feel bad for long-time mastodon users (what do we call each other by the way? tooters?) who have been watching the last 24 hours like 'there goes the neighbourhood' https://mastodon.social/media/Lflj96C4lc9v0Rhfl84
Toot!
