Watching this site magically re-humanize all of us is beautiful and amazing. I'm personally trying to work out how to bathe in the wonderfulness here and also not let that sense of bliss make me apathetic to still pressing for the hard issues that I really care about, because my ability to even have that choice is a privilege. Corporate social media undermines humanity and it shows. This place is wonderful. Thank you for coming to my newbie toottalk.
Drugs / Robocop
I didn't see robocop until I was over 30, while I had the flu and was taking enough cough syrup and other stuff to wonder if this is robotripping. Naturally that led to the decision that if I was, it was essential that I finally watch robocop while in this state. So I watched it and thought "This is the greatest movie I have ever seen! Why did I spend any moment of my life not watching this movie?". Anyway, I can't watch it ever again because that memory is too precious to to me.
@horsemaths I would argue yes. It would be typified by the deployment of ecological arguments to reinforce the fascistic collapse of state and corporate interests
Militarized borders, for example, are one of the defining features of ecofascism as sections of the planet become uninhabitable. Vast programs of depopulation are another.
Why This Username / Avatar
I like the story of clever hans, and especially the broader implication: we often naively create the world we experience from the stuff of our own expectations. The power of the perceiver and all that. Plus it's a great story. The horse really was clever, after all, just not in the way everyone imagined. I never get tired of that story. That's really it.
we have turned the internet into one of the largest repositories of human knowledge and expression in history but we have also paywalled the shit out of it. people have been killed attempting to liberate this data while other artifacts have been barred from distribution entirely because our legal systems can't decide who should profit from the works of the dead
The whole fediverse loves Toot Frog, a lovely frog that makes posts! *5 seconds later* We regret to inform you the frog is party rocking
Criminalizing homelessness struck down
