@polymerwitch Are ‘autonomous’ and ‘centralized’ even the same concepts tho? Something (a region?) can be both autonomous (I.e. disconnected from external factors, and centralised within itself?)

I think autonomous basically means independent, self-governing, whereas decentralized means dispersed, no?

Thus Mastodon is both at the same time, but not either one, or the other...

I just quoted the first toot on .. there's a couple of hashtags I'll use more often next year, and they are:

I don't know how well "autonomous" is used in broader context and advocacy. E.g. The Decentralized Web --> The Autonomous Web?

It inspired me. I'm thinking of The --> In a time where freedom and control is wrestled from us we need to regain and expand our as people and society again.

@humanetech @halcek @polymerwitch There are already letter agencies in the fediverse. We don't need more.

@bob @halcek @polymerwitch

Ha, certainly not, but it is not *that* kind of agency 😁

Agency (philosopy, sociology):

- the capacity of an actor to act in a given environment.

- an individual engaging with the social structure.

- the capacity of individuals to act independently and to make their own free choices.

- one’s independent capability or ability to act on one’s will.
