Would you recommend Mastodon to your friends and family?

@iamvikas @Gargron @Mastodon
I already have !
Put it up as my WhatsApp status and as fwds to all my Groups.
Posted it on my FB wall.
Sent registration links as well as news article links about Mastodon.
Even called people and spoke to them, explaining about the what's what of Mastodon.

@iamvikas @Gargron @Mastodon
Have done that. Have followed you. Would be nice if you could follow me back !

@iamvikas @Gargron @Mastodon Actually I recommended it a lot of times and luckily I have a friend here (and maybe more in a future) :blobcatcoffee:

@iamvikas Yes, I would. But a lot of people and developers are still on the ‘other side’ and it’s impossible to keep up with them here. Same with WhatsApp / Telegram. Telegram is way better, but people are slow moving there.

@iamvikas For those who made the move already, they’re not going back. But most people are just too lazy to even check it out. Hopefully that’ll change.

@maique @iamvikas I think Telegram is a dead end because of its fishy crypto that doesn't even allow end-to-end encrypted group chats. I would hope that techies stop recommending Telegram. In my opinion Signal, Riot, or Briar are the messengers we should recommend.

@BalooUriza Well... XMPP vs Matrix is like Beatles vs Stones. I have my preference, but I understand that there are also other opinions.

@beta3 Isn't Matrix a closed model and XMPP actually has a IETF STD number? If that's the case it's closer to Chris Gaines vs Woody Guthrie.

@iamvikas @Gargron @Mastodon What can I say.... Most of my non-virtual friends are still busy with 'insta' fam, jam and pam

@iamvikas @Gargron @Mastodon yes, but I want to know that there is any trending topic show at Mastodon?

@iamvikas Friends, yes. Family? Eh, the stuff they post kinda demonstrates the world is better off with them on Facebook, today's AOL...
