Actual municipal police roam the streets with heavy weaponry and tactical gear.

We just spent four years in the midst of a “national conversation” on police killings of black people.

Fucking NAZIS are running for office TODAY.

Pushing aside the racism and ableism and utter fucking tonedeafness of a good chunk of the people wanting to ban guns, the stone fact of the matter is that the FIRST people to get their shit taken are marginalized people of all sorts.

Y’all want to pass gun control DURING THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?

And the pretense of #SESTA and #FOSTA? There is a Crisis, and Somebody Must Do Something About It.

And what did sex workers say? Oh that’s right, nobody was listening because it’s very evident that nobody gives a shit about inconvenient points when Something Must Be Done.

And this brings me back to the current gun control "conversation."

That’s currently happening right now with #SESTA and #FOSTA, and it will happen with any gun control you push for that the state puts into action.

Oh and the reason I tagged that one toot #netneutrality? Because given who voiced their support for #SESTA and #FOSTA - Amy Schumer and Seth Meyer, for one - it’s a bit fucking hypocritical. The same voices screaming against private parties doing shit to the internet are fine with the state doing the same type of shit to the internet.

Sex workers, porn actors, people who write and draw smut, as well as the people who chronicle those people’s lives, are RIGHT NOW being shut out of the US internet with the stroke of a pen. #netneutrality

The government is a nuke that people from the “left” and the “right” like to wield like it’s a cartoon hammer. To y’all it’s great for dramatic effect but it has no major consequences for you. Meanwhile millions of people - queer, brown, disabled, and/or women - die.

So let's talk about guns.

I actually really don’t like guns. Like, I REALLY don’t like guns. A good number of the people I’ve met who do like guns are either impossibly fronting “macho” dudes or dudes who think they’re about to be sent to Spain circa 1938.

My opposition to gun control stems thusly: Right now I’m currently watching #FOSTA/ #SESTA destroy people’s lives.

THAT ALL BEING SAID, none of the adults espousing bullshit are going to get away unscathed.

(And yes I even mean teens whose shitty politics fall rightward)

Six months after I sent a letter to the president imploring him to intervene militarily in Sudan, I was an anarchist. Soooooooooooo maybe I’m not super keen on attacking teens for being shitty politically if there’s a better option available, like, idk, being persuasive.

Yeah, I guess I could expend whole chunks of my time dunking on “woke” teenagers for not supporting the YPG or Redneck Revolt or for being into gun abolition or whatever but I just remembered that when I was in high school I wrote an impassioned plea to George W Bush to save Darfur.
