‘Facebook, Google face first GDPR complaints over ‘forced consent’’

“Schrems argues that the companies are using a strategy of “forced consent” to continue processing the individuals’ personal data — when in fact the law requires that users be given a free choice unless a consent is strictly necessary for provision of the service.”

@indie
I can't read the article for some reason -- it shows for a bit then jumps to "Copyright 2013-2018 Oath something".

@indie This does not surprise me. I just wonder how this may end up playing out. If it's happening already, maybe my hope that "maybe in a year" we will get some idea what actually happens.

@indie You mean they do forced consent just like TechCrunch does, which is hosting that article you linked to about forced consent?

@indie I'm seeing a lot of places like that. "If you continue to use the service you agree to all the stuff we were doing to before."

@indie Ironic that in order to read that article I first had to add adblock rules to disable TechCrunch/Oath's forced consent scripts.. >_<
