Racist in my opinion, history

It's in such bottomlessly poor taste to portray Thomas Jefferson as a Black man that I don't think I'll ever get over it. The things that man actually did to Black people, I think putting a palatable, woke sheen on him only serves to obscure the very real abuses he committed on a personal and national scale.

I've said this before, but it's ahistorical to say "well it was a different time." There wasn't ever a time when chaining people and keeping them captive wasn't shocking. We have historical accounts of contemporaries of Jefferson's saying it was incredibly fucked of him to write what he wrote while treating people the way he did.

But I guess if you don't want to cast the founders down completely, you must find a way to live with them.
