I just joined the DSA. I've been really impressed with their organizing and leadership, and inspired by Ocasio-Cortez. And I just watched some footage of a local meeting and was impressed. ๐ŸŒน

It's not a political party, so you don't have to be an American citizen to join ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm going to be a card-carrying socialist.

@intherain yea, i'm thinking i'm going to do the same. i avoided joining the democrats even though i usually voted for them because i didn't really feel represented by them. dsa is the first political organization that i've been able to really identify with

@balrogboogie I looked through their faq before I joined, and since they aren't a party they won't affect your voter registration. I'm a registered Democrat and will remain so, because the way to get Democrats to represent you is to vote for the DSA-endorsed candidates in their primaries. Where I live you can't vote in the primaries unless you're a party member.

@intherain ah, that makes sense. we don't have to be registered party members here in MI in order to vote in primaries, so i've never needed to register
