@irisjaycomics TBH, most rich people would probably consider Medieval peasant food to be classier than what they expect the rest of us to eat.
People underestimate how good life actually was for Medieval peasants. Plenty of days off (due to a plethora of religious holidays), nutritious food (can't work the field on acorn gruel and water), etc. Later people even commonly had small weapons and mail shirts. That would be like every American having a flak jacket and combat knife
@irisjaycomics the thing that kicks my ass is that avocados aren't even all that expensive a lot of the time. They'll get down to like 50 cents around here.
Now ARTICHOKES on the other hand, those fuckers are like 3 bucks minimum at any given moment.
@ComputerHusband it’s fucking weird. Around here avocados can get expensive when they’re out of season, sure, but so can tomatoes, so like...????
@irisjaycomics avocados were 55 cents each yesterday. They were kinda puny but still breakfast sized. Also, man, I know a lot of people get upset about the nothingness of an out of season tomato, but a hard and bland avocado that cost like a buck and a half is something else
