@isagalaev Some excellent (and funny) points here.
Something I'd add would be not abbreviating the command too much. I'm thinking of “umount”; you'd have to be a bloody awful typist (or still using an ASR33) for the time saving of not typing the first “n” to outweigh the cognitive load of remembering not to do so.
