@itsfoss Apparently only those employed in sanctioned companies. It's still not clear if they can keep contributing and on what terms.

@itsfoss "it's lack of history knowledge too." (C)Linus Torvalds
Next - the Germans? Because of Hitler, Dachau, Auschwitz?

Fucking idiots...

@itsfoss

Sure! Then we have to booted ruZZians out of Ukraine!
Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦

Time for an anonymous contribution mechanism and workflow. If code is being reviewed for quality and security by a sufficient number of expert eyeballs, a true meritocracy could be realized by accepting code from any race, age, sex, country of origin, or political alignment without the need to reveal any such characteristics.

This is a goal worth building toward, in my opinion. It's very compliant with the principles of the scientific method, isn't it?

@itsfoss By reading your article, I don't see if there was any objective reason to kick Russian contributors apart from current paranoïa about Russians(which ain't a good objective reason), I hope the Linux Kernel team is just as strict with people from other countries, contributors not being part of any official state sponsored organization seems quite extreme, that means if you're a teacher in Russia or in any other country you can't participate?

@itsfoss Also these kind of restrictions seem a bit stupid, if the person really is working for a government intelligence agency, it would be very easy for them to provide any fake paperwork that claims they're clean...

The duality of open source projects -
1. License: We are not to be held liable against whatever purpose you use our code for.
2. Code of Conduct: You'll be banned from contributing if we don't like your background.

But then again, whatever's needed to keep the kernel alive. It's just sad it has to be like this.
