#Accessibility question: when writing descriptions for photos, should it be utilitarian. Eg "a puppy biting a finger"
Or should it have value judgements to infer the mood of the photo "a puppy adorably trying to chew a finger"?
@meena thankyou. This is really helpful
@jackalope I don’t necessarily include value judgements so much as I try to match tone? So if its a clinical photo I give a clinical description, if its an artistic one I’ll be a little more poetic in my phrasing.
In your example the point of the photo isn’t the puppy biting someones finger so much as the fact that said puppy is cute, so I’d say the latter is more accurate
@Satsuma thanks. That's a big help :-)
@jackalope i haven't had the time to read it, but people are saying good things about http://livingwithdisability.tumblr.com/post/124066767358/all-about-image-descriptions i hope it has an answer to your question (I've pushed it up in my reading stack ;)
