Thanks for the transparency, but I'm gone. So long and thanks for all the tweets.

@christianbundy I didn’t have as many, but I wonder how accurate Twitter is. I started enquiring with the advertisers on my list (some were small businesses) and they claimed they never used custom audiences. I actually believe them.

Facebook’s dump had even more BS in there about which advertisers I had interacted with—some I had never heard of, and I never click on their ads.

All their tracking is intrusive and, by the looks of it, inaccurate.

@jackyan Maybe I misunderstood, but I was under the impression that these were just the number of times I fell under a demographic like "men aged 20-29 in Oregon" rather than a custom audience, but I have little trust for either Twitter or Facebook.

My life is noticably better without them, and I'm excited to remove Google from my life too.

@christianbundy Oops, actually, I think you are right, I misread your screen shot. My apologies. On my Twitter download there was a section on ‘custom audiences’ and the only way to remove myself was to contact each advertiser. When I did, they all claimed to not know of them at all.

De-Googling is wonderful. I had some big privacy concerns with them in 2009–11. On very rare occasions I check in (because of work-related stuff) but otherwise it feels very freeing.
