I went back to a two-year-old Rust project & tried to get it building again with the latest stable Rust & updated libraries. It was surprisingly straightforward for the most part -- I could just check the updated project docs & let the compiler errors show what needed to change -- but oof did the changes to how the hyper HTTP client work take an annoying amount of time to fix :/
I know there's a lot of demand for reviews of books that came out 180 years ago, so I wrote a bit about my thoughts after reading *Democracy in America* http://occasionallycogent.com/2018/10/10/democracy_in_america.html
You have a question for the #Krita developers?

Beware detached, privileged ppl that fancy themselves intellectuals, who talk at length about things they'll never understand. I've heard so many repugnant ideas expressed in erudite, civil tones.
I notice it happens *a lot* with people in STEM fields tbh. I think math makes white cis het men feel like they don't have to have empathy or humility.
Alt-Right White Wolf Article: Update
You may have seen the article going around from "Dog With Dice" about how the latest version of White Wolf's "Vampire: The Masquerade" was specifically written for and marketed to the alt-right.
The article author's whole site is now dead and their Twitter account has been deleted without explanation.
I suspect foul play and severe harassment from alt-right 4channers.
The article is still cached here. Spread it far and wide.
