So, on which #instance should a nerd find refuge from perverts? I'd gladly #federate in languages other than English alone, I just need to get rid of that excessive Japanese and hardcore hentai infused feed.

@janjoris I see you are on the big one, I went with mastodon.technology because the name sounded relevant to what I was looking for. The local and federated timelines seem ok to me and most folks in here are into tech.

@alexandros I'm thinking of setting up my own personal instance and see where that takes me.

@janjoris keep in mind that you'll have to actively search for topics of interest and follow specific users in order to have a meaningful timeline, then again you are the master of own experience.
