I don't think the NYT editorial represents a "secret coup". I don't think the internal resistance cabal actually exists. I think it's one person trying to bait Trunp into firing *everyone*. Good chance it'll work, too.

The real way Mastodon is unlike Twitter is that here we have the opportunity to design and build real, effective, scalable moderation tools, without getting cockblocked by the Nazis who have infiltrated Twitter.

Why someone would want to do a lame half-assed job of it is beyond me.

Obligatory javascript thing whinging: Promises are worse than callbacks until you get async/await. At that point they're better but still annoying because the machinery of promises are still in your face some of the time. I don't want the machinery.

Such an interesting (but not surprising) comparison of Twitter and Mastodon… via uBlock Origin:

I guess one serious post I will make is this: there is a real movement to threaten, endanger, and literally kill journalists for doing their jobs. The tactics (doxing, stalking, calls for doxing and stalking, death threats, lies or misleading statements in order to stir people up) are replicable and are being replicated. This is now part of the job description. It shouldn’t have to be. The only allies we have are members of the public who can discern and call out dishonesty.

Chrissy Teigen over on birbsite is angry at Animal Crossing. Now I don't feel bad about not being able to install it.

Now the app is bandwidth-shaming me every two minutes.

Oh god I have to download another 80 MEGS before I can even turn off the insipid music.

Ok fine, I'll install Animal Crossing. Geez, this thing is HUGE.

I haven't been here in a while but with today's time-out for birbsite I'm visiting. First thing I noticed: lots of animé. Second thing: no goddamn repeat tweets here!!1! So nice to just have a plain old chronological timeline, no fucking Algorithm.

I think I figured out the Guam thing. Guam has a THAAD battery. NK wants to see THAAD in action. They will fire another test missile near but not at Guam, and see if we shoot it down.

Japan was cool-headed enough to not respond when the previous test came down near them. Will the USA be similarly cool-headed? I'm guessing.... No.

Having permitted your primitive efforts to see my form, I trust it has pleased your curiosity. mastodon.social/media/q9DPuub2
