I still love thinking about the time Optimum promised me free installation, charged me $60 for it anyways, then only gave me $50, and when I pressed for the remaining $10, they had the chutzpah to ask, didn't I think $10 was fair as a price for their installation service?

I had a nightmare that someone had replied to one of my comments on Reddit

the phrase "ask not for whom the hotline bling, it blings for thee" has been echoing in my head for hours

@aendrew seems more likely to me that each news org will create their own instances and give each reporter / topic feed their own verified account on that instance so you'd get like @breaking@mastodon.bbc.co.uk or @JohnSmith@mastodon.cnn.com whatever

An idea, considering we're starting to see users like @qz and @HackerNewsBot: perhaps a dedicated instance for news orgs should be created, and have it be invite-only so that its members can be trusted as legitimate news outlets (probably necessary in lieu of something like Twitter's awful verification process). Instance owners can then decide whether or not to federate, thus preventing various news media outlets from cluttering everyone's timelines. Thoughts?

Apologies to everyone I had to leave out! (your instances are great too)
