Love (hate!) how Apple Music skips a beat in the first few seconds when streaming a track. Tell me you despise music, without telling me you despise music. Ugh.

@aud Hell no, it’s very noticeable IMO! I can’t tell if the Lossless Audio setting is implicated here (I have that enabled in all scenarios), but also:

1. I’m not going to spend my time diagnosing a bug in software from the richest company on Earth

2. If they can’t offer a high quality playback experience when streaming lossless audio, maybe they shouldn’t have shipped that setting???

@jkohlmann@mastodon.social it's been driving me INSANE. I just assumed, for whatever reason, that it's a bug with my setup or something silly, or maybe a caching issue, or... but I hate it. Hearing that little skip, always missing the same beat... -_-

@aud Yeah, ugh. Downloading the track appears to avoid the issue, if memory serves me correctly…but still.

@jkohlmann@mastodon.social what a clusterfuck. Has Apple ever allowed the developers who work on it enough time to sort these things? It smacks of “at a corporate level we don’t really care so much”.

@aud Unclear! I still don't understand why or how they came to offer lossless audio when their devices don't support it out of the box.

@jkohlmann I am not convinced anyone who truly enjoys the experience of listening to a non Taylor Swift album or keeping a music library locally still works at Apple

@demarko Regarding the latter: I completely gave up on Music.app for local library management this year. I now use Doppler, a Walkman NW-ZX707, and a big ol‘ Micro SD card.

Edit: Also, Meta by Nightbirdsevolve Software for metadata editing (nightbirdsevolve.com/meta/) and MacDroid for file transfers (macdroid.app/).

It is funny as hell to me that Apple “killed” the Walkman, then actually killed the iPod, and now offers truly mediocre, slapdash music products in the aftermath.

www.nightbirdsevolve.comMeta – Music Tag Editor for MacMeta is a powerful music tag editor that helps you keep your music library in shape. Edit Album Artwork, Rename Files, Strip Tags, Find & Replace Tags, Edit Typecase, Batch edit mutiple files at once and more…

@demarko (The Apple Music lossless audio ExPeRiEnCe is better on the Walkman running Android. At least that device can actually output 24-bit, 96 kHz audio, even over Bluetooth with a pair of Sony headphones attached. It’s like, someone has been committing to the bit for decades here, and it’s not Apple. Then again, why would anyone expect anything different?)
