The FISC opinions document repeated and systematic failures of the FBI to adhere to the most basic privacy protections. Keep in mind that the FBI is querying communications that were collected without a warrant, so it already is a very delicate constitutional balance. But FISC opinion after opinion show an FBI that uses this data for all kinds of reasons. And even more concerning, for the first time we learned how many U.S. person queries the FBI made: up to 3.4 million in 2021 alone!
