NEW USERS! Confused about "Local" and "Federated" timelines?

The "local" timeline contains the public posts only by people on the same "instance" as you (i.e. everyone on mastodon.social or cybre.space or w/e)

The "federated" timeline is that plus public posts from everyone on other instances who has a follower from your own.

On mastodon.social even local tends to be too busy to be very useful, but on smaller instances they can make for lovely people watching and making new connections.

You can also find me over at jmichaelward@phpc.social while I figure this whole Mastodon thing out.

The only way to make a change is to take a leap, aye? I’m glad there are some of you over here now. Hopefully there are many more to follow.
