This year, as every year, I strongly recommend K Tempest Bradford's "Until Forgiveness Comes," a story about personal grief vs public spectacle, and whether it's healthy to "never forget" an act of violence:
Chicago! On September 6 I will be reading at Volumes Book Cafe with Mary Robinette Kowal, Mary Anne Mohanraj, Chris Bauer and Steven Silver. Hope to see you there!

Let's say I started a short fiction review site that emphasized the quantification of story quality. But every story with a gay man in it was knocked down a star or two, and the inclusion of gay men was mentioned as a definite negative in the review itself. And lets say the authors of such stories protested. Loudly.
Would this be because they were just super sensitive about getting bad reviews? Or would it be because I'm a bigot?
