I spent an hour this evening arguing with climate deniers on birdsite.

Why did I do this.

Hello, Mastodon folks. Been a while. How are things?

Instagram: My life is a party.

Snapchat: My life is a quirky TV show.

Facebook: My life turned out great!

Twitter: We're all going to die.

Mastodon: Don't worry, while we are on a quirky, meandering path towards an inevitable apocalypse, we might as well enjoy the ride and show eachother some love in an unorthodox, yet irresistible manner, not in any way hindered by considerations of style, identity or consistency.

: I wish there were a way to list several hashtags that I'm interested in, for a customized federated timeline on the third column :)

bon matin, personnes des masto francais

(mon francais n'est pas bon, mais j'essaie)

all right, it is bed time. g'night tooters

This, btw, is a good primer on the debates I spend a lot of my time thinking about re: renewable energy: vox.com/energy-and-environment

Home & notifications tabs are fine, it's just the timelines.

is anyone else getting a bug where your Local and Federated timelines don't update once you open them? forever stuck on time of page-load?

Question: anyone know why the local & federated timelines won't update once I open them on my tablet? Home and Notifications are real-time, timelines gets stuck once I open them. (Tablet is an Asus Transformer T100-series (can't recall exact # ), running Win8.1. Browser = Firefox)

@TheGibson related to you pointing out that fake on Monday - mastodon.cloud/@SwiftOnSecurit is actually here now.

(related - did you migrate? @thegibsonmainframe )

unrelated to anything else in my timeline:
There is a squirrel that lives in my attic.
My roommate and I have named it Nemesis, because it is incredibly loud all the time. And my nemesis.

@backhand until instances diversify/specialize, i think its probably best to stick with one for the moment

later on, if, say, cybre.space became a programming-focused instance (it probably won't but who knows), and you wanted to be part of that community, then maybe it would make sense!

for now the network is growing both horizontally and vertically, and everyone's just trying to get in on the central discourse before fanning out to their interest circles

the great thing about open source is that instead of screaming into the void and then receiving bad features you never asked for, everything is broken but you shrug it off because no one has any money anyways

my biggest Mastodon pet peeve so far is seeing it spelled "mastadon"
