Trying to remote follow #mefites but server chugging is somewhat impacting my ability to do so successfully, so very much a work in progress.

@joshmillard A Metafilter instance would be neat. I'm not a member personally, but sometimes a site:metalfilter.com is the only way Google returns anything useful on advice type queries. A social network full of that kind of discussion would be nice, even if it's read/follow-only for non-members.
@Riley Yeah, it's a possibility, though doing it Right (like actually integrating it thoughtfully with our existing infrastructure, respecting/mapping user accounts, etc) would according to some napkin math be A Huge Pain In The Ass so it's not likely to materialize too promptly.
A couple of mefites have mentioned the idea of starting one more at the shits-and-giggles level, though, which seems in the spirit of the thing. So who knows!
