There is no volume at which I can play Sleater-Kinney's The Woods that stops me from thinking "maybe I should turn this up some more".
@joshmillard The correct volume for all S-K albums is "louder".
@Lafe @tobascodagama Oh my gosh, you are in for a treat. Their other albums are all really good too. One Beat's probably my favorite album but there's gut-punchingly good tracks on all of them.
The Woods has somewhat heavier/grittier production than the ones that came before and has really grown on me over time.
"One More Hour" off of Dig Me Out is a personal biggie for me, perfect synthesis of rock sounds and emotional resonance.
@Lafe @tobascodagama Yeah, their whole career has a continuity and texture -- and a cycle of themes and motifs from album and album -- that is bigger than any of the individual albums on a first listen. Starts out as just some fucking good rock and then grows from there.
Woods was the album they made after almost not making another album at all...and then they broke up afterward, for a long time. It's interesting punctuation.
@joshmillard @tobascodagama "The Woods" was awesome. Just starting on "Dig Me Out". These are going to take more than one listen to grok.
