The real value add of Mastodon is giving everyone an excuse to finally put something on all the weird domains they've been squatting
A thing that g+ tried to do that I thought was interesting was offering a feed that showed friends-of-friends, so you got to see not just what your immediate acquaintances were up to, but it also provided you a sort of entree into the larger community that surrounded your circles, people on that feed weren't necessarily your friends, but they weren't completely strangers, either. The federated feed for smaller instances is going to feel a lot like that, I think.
I've spent most of the past two workdays debugging somebody else's app from their own logs, primarily out of spite because they wanted to blame me.
btw I finished the game a couple weeks ago and you should play it https://krinndnz.itch.io/monstergirl-mansion it's kinky, queer, and femme-centric, also hella trans and sexual.
Something I found striking about Oshii's work is how much value he gets out of staying on one frame for extended periods with clever sound direction - that's budget savings right there!
To celebrate not watching Ghost In The Shell, my housemate ran a film festival of six hours of Mamuro Oshii movies.
That was a lot of fisheye.
And reflections.
And birds.
And aquariums.
And plotlines about the illusions of reality.
Both here and on birbland, my actual content-posting-rate tends to be pretty low, but I'm enjoying the atmosphere here. Gonna try to stick around.

I like how this place is still slow enough to have a general firehose timeline, and naturally, it's 80% furries.
