also every time that Emil Lizardo talked I basically imagined the producers going like this

this is admittedly a recurring trend for me, that the more something is hyped for me the less I end up enjoying it because I'm led to expect it to be good on a level that its flaws won't stand out to me

I finally watched Buckaroo Banzai for the first time last night and I'm not sure if I enjoyed it as much as it was hyped for me (which is probably directly related to why I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd expected to) but I can def appreciate it for being exactly what it is

sooo that's basically my weekend plans gone, but it's better that I put effort into letting my leg get better over everything else

update on hip stuff, I saw my doctor (thankfully the visit didn't cost too much) and she said she thinks I pulled a muscle trying to baby my knee and to be gentle with it and check back if it doesn't get any better

Seriously what the fuck did I do to my hip. I think I may need to take a half day and go see a specialist about this because something is majorly wrong

Nothing like having my hip start to be in active pain when I have another day of working in packing tomorrow and I also can feel myself getting sick

I’m also probably less into that because (1) I’ve read neuromancer and think it handed that concept way better in a way that made sense for the setting (2) I’ve read the diamond age so I know that Stephenson tends to kind of lean on eleventh hour quasi-supernatural elements to his otherwise entirely technological-based stories

Got into an argument with someone last night on discord and there is no frustration like someone saying “the fact that it forces you to accept supernatural elements with no good explanation for their existence in what is otherwise a cyberpunk novel is a GOOD thing”

overhearing my mom talk about how my aunt is going to drop off her granddaughter/my cousin to stay with her shitty older boyfriend who started dating her online while she was still underage and he was a youth pastor, hahaha I hate it!

Also I went to micheals and spent way too much on fake flowers (because I was a dumbass and didn’t only buy ones on sale) to make into a bi flag flower crown because I am in my late 20s and have decided I want to be That Bitch who wears a flower crown

I joined a discord group for people in my city doing stuff and I’m really glad it exists but also I kind of want to talk about pride being this weekend and I don’t know if they’d consider that too “political”

also thinking about this because the discussion of being trans being not exclusively defined by dysphoria but by what gender you feel HAPPIER as has kind of allowed me to give more thought about having more choices about myself other than "cis female is tolerable so I guess I have to stick with it" which the "you must be this dysphoric to be trans" model did not allow for

plus as someone who identified as ace for a period of time, feeling like I was actually supported in my choices towards sexuality would have, you know, done a lot to make me feel less like I had to fight to prove myself and I might have come around to accepting my sexuality sooner

I had a sudden realization that the "ace people aren't LGBT because they don't suffer the exact kind of abuse that LGBT people do" exclusionist arguement is exactly the kind of bullshit that kept me as a bi person from being able to feel like I was a "real" queer person, since I haven't experienced a lot of specific LGBT Experience Trauma Checklist turmoil regarding my identity.

one of the available places of lodging that's recommended as being nearby is a "teepee village" style motel and holy shit I can't believe those didn't die out in shame of their lack of good taste years ago. (price is pretty cheap compared to other options though so I'm not exactly taking it off the table)
