A while back, someone described academic press edited volumes as where good scholarship goes to die.
I get that.
But I just read Boarding School Blues: Revisiting American Indian Educational Experiences, an edited collection from Univ Nebraska (2006) (HT Trevor Reed) & it was terrific!
My public library copy was well-thumbed, with evidence of previous readers.
Reminding me that a good edited collection can be accessible and (re)define a field.
