I was listening to the podcast and @anzet was talking about how the people who sold him his sofa sent him a repair kit and it got me thinking: wouldn't it be cool if more manufacturers just "pushed fixes" for their items rather than building in obsolescence and profiting from waste?

This has been a chronic gripe of mine.

@Harena and I do our computing on a sofa that my parents bought in 1975. I drive a car made in 1987.The sofa needs some new soft bits, and I have no idea. My mechanic dislikes working on the car anymore because of how difficult it is now to find parts for it, even on Ebay.

And so on.

@kavbojka If they did that, they wouldn't be able to sell you an entire new $product every quarter/year/decade when the old one wears out.
