Please know that administration and moderation of an online community is a thankless, never ending job.
It can brutalize a person, few are ever thanked or appreciated and it can be a terrible source of burn out for those 'in charge'.
Please be kind to your admin/moderation team(s) and thank them now and again.
Kind words and a simple ๐ค go a long, long way towards their continued heath.
@kemonine I ended up with the policy never act as moderator in any communities I really like or care about. As for administrating I've been twice at the point where I handed particularly annoying individuals a full backup, prepared to transfer the domain to them and told them they should better get started since in less then 24h it would be their job to run everything. Not a nice thing to do, but rather effective. (People usually panic at that point and reconsider their actions.)
@kemonine evergreen truth

@kemonine I feel like this is an area where setting up Liberapay or Patreon and asking for money can actually help, because it reminds people that administering an instance is work and that there's a human with needs behind it. People have a different attitude about things they perceive as "free".
@kemonine I used to be a content moderator on Weasyl. Definitely understand, it's nuts
