I sifted through every suggestion.
The overwhelming feedback is that Obsidian on mobile needs to be faster and better. I encounter that too.
There's a lot of low hanging fruit, which is great. Keep in mind the Obsidian team is only 3 full time devs. Be patient with us
Of course adding dynamic views, and lots of other improvements and bug fixes are on our radar too. But priorities are important for small teams like ours.
Right now I want to focus on startup time. Being able to access and edit notes on your phone should be as fast as possible.
@kepano and I think one of the best ways to do this is enable a quick capture view. Something that I can enter in a thought quickly that can be done while the rest of the database is loading in the background.
@kepano Thanks for soliciting feedback in this way. It has a broader reach than just, say, the Discord or forum, and hopefully yields more varied takes. Hopefully that's been a positive. But I imagine it also opens up the doors for harsher criticism as well, so anyways thanks again for doing it.
@kepano sounds great to me.
The other big thing I want on mobile is easier connectivity to a file. The share function does… nothing. I often want to share text to a file, or add the page I’m looking at as a link. Neither work, or if they do, they work so inconsistently and confusingly I basically never use it on mobile except plain text writing.
In other words, it does not feel like a first class citizen on mobile. (This is all iPhone/ipad.)
@kepano In the meantime, I wouldn't mind a separate phone app for capture. If I could just install a second obsidian without plugins.
@kepano Startup time will be relatively easy to address, Obsidian already has excellent startup perf, but a few things can conflict (initial indexing & plugin startup). With tweaking, this won't be hard to address.
In fact, all these startup perf enhancements will also lead to gains on the desktop. Startup time is a product feature, highly valued by serious users.
@kepano 100% agree! Mobile please!
@kepano any intention to make iCloud sync any smoother on mobile?
