Every time you direct somebody to GitHub and ask them to file an issue or use it for some other kind of work (esp. without even stopping to consider whether they even have an account), imagine you have a Facebook group instead, and you're telling them to post in it. Stop and think about why you feel that doing the same thing with GitHub is any different.

Being a GitHub user should not be a prerequisite for public participation.

We've tried a few 'Fish Boxes' from Grimsby (a famous Northen fishing town in the UK). Have fallen in love with cooking Monkfish in curry.

@pertho Probably not what you need right now, but as an interesting point, and based on all the news around the brands that have been taken over or gone bust, my contribution would be the WiiFit meter.

I have one. It works a treat, and just populates the challenges and metrics on the Wii U.

No need for updates, etc. You can change the battery, and all data is re-populated from the Wii U profile if it goes flat.

"Summary: On August 30, 2020 10:04 GMT, CenturyLink identified an issue to be affecting users across multiple markets. The IP Network Operations Center (NOC) was engaged, and initial research identified that an offending flowspec announcement prevented Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) from establishing across multiple elements throughout the CenturyLink Network..."

Cloudflare is partly down and people call this "Internet outage". edition.cnn.com/2020/08/30/tec

Either the Internet is dead or people just don't understand what Internet is.

I would definitely say capitalism is just another expression of racism because it cannot exist without the context of dehumanization. Capitalism cannot exist without the fictitious idea that some people are just 'lesser' because of their identity.

Racism is why white people continue to cling to capitalism even though they have been devastated by it. Their hate is being used against them and has been for centuries.

That's how we got to this point.

The effectiveness of the proliferation and perpetuation of capitalism is directly connected to anti-blackness. White people and their tokens buy into capitalism because we've been conditioned to believe access to wealth makes a human 'elite' rather than just being a by product of nefarious policy that re-routes resources to people have done little to earn it.

This is encapsulated by the Southern Strategy, which is by far the most successful political stragegy in American history.

The thing about capitalism is that it's not about money but rather the distribution of money and the abject cruelty and violence used to maintain that flow of resources.

There are a million ways to make some bread, man. It's been proven the most effective way to build national wealth is to fund welfare programs because it always has a positive return. Always. 10 times out 10.

We don't do it because capitalism incentives cruelty over national well being.

seeing several astounded reports about how ancient redwoods are surviving the fires

yes. because northern california is adapted to fire. that's why us norcal natives have ancient traditions to use the fire, to cultivate fire, to clear away the growth that might complicate things during the fire season, and to encourage new growth by clearing land and mixing ash into the soil to fortify it

you'd think after like 10,000 years in the area we might know a thing or 2 about how the ecosystem works

Neofeud is a game about my experiences growing up in Hawaii's ghetto, being a social worker & STEM teacher for poor, homeless, refugees, POC kids in slums of Hawaii the tour buses avoid.

I'm Chris, a POC from a US ghetto, worked as a social worker and STEM teacher for poor, homeless, immigrant and largely non-white kids in America's inner-city slum. I'm a one-person indie game dev, and my games are personal reflections of my experiences.

I've been doing gamedev for 25+ years, my largest project to date is Neofeud, a cyberpunk adventure game. I made it while teaching full time, and homeless, w/ my wife and kids living in the back of a Mazda Tribute. Cuz America.

So there you have it, a story of mediocre people monetizing their privilege and making money on the back of creators, just like so many others are doing in this field and others.

now I'm exhausted, I'm going to have a lie down and decide whether or not I can be arsed to put that up on hellsite and deal with the fallout.

So, what was that about a market to corner? You see, the festival has sponsors from the games industry and european art grants funds. The people who run this show have connections, and, in the spirit of "inclusivity" they like to promote they'll offer you access to those. They'll charge you for it though, because of course, we can't let you peasants have them for free, and inserting themselves as middlemen in the "chasing grants and publisher deals" game is a very profitable grift.

Just read an article about how Elongated Muskrat continually pushing up prices for buying into features which don't yet, and may never, exist is smart because it turns "customers into speculators" and that's a long ass way of saying "scamming people"
