Block advertisements and trackers in most apps, *without root*, on your Android device. Blokada filters traffic using loopback VPN; the data never leaves your device and the software is open source. Find on F-Droid or at blokada.org/

Take back your Android device -- build your own custom ROM. Fully customizable, with default support for OTA updates and privileged F-Droid: github.com/dan-v/rattlesnakeos

@kevinflo@tinyfed.com -- this got me thinking; in life, it seems one must speak to be heard. In the modern world, is that a problem to solve technologically or just an opportunity for personal growth?

@kevinflo@tinyfed.com -- episode 3 of FediverseCast is the most thoughtful and nuanced view I've encountered on this topic. Thank you for sharing your insights and for opening up about your creative process. I wish all "junk posts" were this provocative!

@thegibson @ella_kane@hackers.town and other hackers.town folk: any recommendations for podcasts? infosec and maker/DIY in particular.

Is there a compelling or replacement for SoundCloud? Has anyone experimented with STEEM DSound?

What would you do if I dereferenced null? Would you stand up and segfault on me... (and a little help from my refs) (all we need is known lifetimes) (aaaaand a little help from my refs)

I'm convinced. Something like *could* be the future of the open web. But I have questions:

How do we handle multi-device? Could we support identity delegation to trusted servers, allowing for light weight web/mobile clients?

Could we make better guarantees about ? Does private messaging use PFS? Could we somehow implement guaranteed deletion? Could we support explicit approval for new followers?

@rusty -- since you seem to be active on .

Hi everyone!

ForgeFed is a project aiming to define a protocol and a vocabulary for federation of project hosting and collaboration platforms (forges), and get it implemented in the existing forges such as GitLab CE, Gitea and so on.

Federation is based on ActivityPub with some tweaks and new vocabulary :)

I'm working on a demo, implementing federation in a forge called Vervis. Earlier today I deployed 2 test instances for this! More details and links soon :)

Dear Ruby devs and game devs. I have a crazy announcement I want to share. Please boost.

Last week I released A Dark Room to the Nintendo Switch. Within the game, I also shipped a Ruby interpreter and a code editor as an Easter Egg.

*This Easter Egg effectively turns every consumer spec-ed Nintendo Switch into a Ruby Machine.*

1. Download A Dark Room from the US/EU.
2. Connect a USB keyboard and press the “~” key.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Answering my own question: the specification is very ill-defined on authorization in general: w3.org/TR/activitypub/#authori

The most detailed information I found about the server-to-server protocol is github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/

Does the specification cover this specifically or is this left up to the implementation?

What / expectations can we expect with for federated direct messages between two users on two different servers?

If alice@abc.pub sends a direct message to bob@def.pub, does the server-to-server protocol allow ghi.pub to read the contents, or does the web of trust only extend to abc.pub and def.pub?

Similar question for locked accounts with followers-only post. Would the user be trusting only the instances containing users which they've allowed to follow them?

@__h2__ offered a 50€ bounty for proper Android TV support.

If that's of any interest to you, maybe you want to add to that bounty. Or maybe you want to implement the missing bits.
