@freakazoid Safari has also been called ‘the new IE’ because of iOS and lacking newer functionality, but now I’m actually a bit glad we have it (on macOS). Battery life is *amazing*.

@kosinus That's such a tiny fraction of the overall web browser market that damage is much smaller than Google is doing. It sucks for sites that care more about US and well-to-do mobile users than total worldwide users but aren't willing/able to do an app, I guess.

@kosinus I just realized I misread what you were saying. I guess there are two reasons to call a browser IE: one is that it prevents sites from using new features that are good; the other is that it encourages web sites to do things that are incompatible with other browsers because they only bother testing with that browser. I was thinking the latter, which I think Chrome clearly qualifies for, while you clearly mean the former, which I do think is less of an issue.
