Is there a community of #birders on here yet? And, no, I don't mean people who use the birdsite  #birdwatching
@brennen I used to have a college radio show called Bird Listening, where I played tracks from Peterson's Birding By Ear. I like birds and consider it a good day when I see the cardinal who lives near my house. I haven't gone birding very much, though, and only got my first pair of binoculars this past Christmas.
@ksunter my grandma used to play all these different birdsong tapes (I don't remember the source), bought me bird guides and the little red Audubon bird call. Have felt for a long time that I should tap back into that whole stream of knowledge, sometimes sit and watch birds in the back yard with very old binoculars...
@brennen Over the summer I was recovering from knee surgery, and I watched cardinals, blue jays and tufted titmice in the backyard with my grandfather's old binoculars. It was marvelous.
@ksunter Did you ever find any birders, Kristen? It looks to me like the answer is no...
@BobTarte No, I didn't :( You are the first to reach out!
@ksunter I'm happy to meet you! I live in West Michigan, where it is still winter for several more days at least. We've got Wood Ducks showing up in our backyard right now, which is really cool.
@ksunter Here's a book I wrote about birding, published by University of Michigan Press.
@ksunter I like the _concept_ of being a birder, but am also a profoundly lazy person.
