@jens Absolutely, in fact that's why I initially thought of the joke, since my supervisor is a complete alpha fanboy (rightly so)!

@larkey I remember my 500Mhz Alpha outperformed my dual Athlon 600 back in the day on stuff such as compilation.

I can fanboy about them as well, though I will have to admit that I last booted them up a long, long time ago.

@jens The story of how DEC collapsed is truly saddening, it would've been much more fun if alpha were a serious competition to wintel.
